Power play in the world. The question is that should we say that this planet is safe in the years to come? This latest military showcase by the Chinese with about 24 global leaders; such as Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader, Pakistani leader and many more indicates that this planet is not safe in the years to come.
The recent military parade in China, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, has sparked concerns about global safety and the potential for a third world war. While the parade itself was a showcase of China’s military might, with over 12,000 troops participating, certainly it’s essential to separate the spectacle from the substance.
The parade featured advanced weaponry, including unmanned intelligent systems, underwater warfare units, cyber and electronic warfare forces, and hypersonic weapons. This display of military prowess has led some to speculate about China’s intentions and the potential for conflict.
However, it’s crucial to consider the context of the parade. China has been actively promoting its role as a global peacekeeper, participating in international peacekeeping missions and emphasizing its commitment to maintaining global stability. Have Chinese political policies changed from future global economic leadership to military leadership? Currently China is the second largest global economic inter-player after America.
The attendance of world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has also raised eyebrows. While some see this as a sign of a growing alliance between these nations, others argue that it’s simply a demonstration of China’s diplomatic efforts to promote global cooperation.
So, is the planet safe in the years to come? While there are certainly concerns about global tensions and the potential for conflict, it’s essential to approach this question with nuance.
*Key Factors to Consider
Global Interconnectedness:
The increasing interconnectedness of the world economy and the growing importance of international cooperation make it less likely that nations will engage in large-scale conflict.
Diplomatic Efforts:
China’s efforts to promote global cooperation and stability, as well as its participation in international peacekeeping missions, suggest that the nation is committed to maintaining peace in the world. Especially that experts suggested that before the year 2050 China will be the largest global economy. Although scholars such as Professor George Friedman denied that suggestion for the fact that “China’s population and global location will hinder that assertion“. (The Next 100 Years: A Forecast For the 21st Century by George Friedman, 2009).
Military Modernization:
While China’s military modernization is undoubtedly a significant development, it’s essential to consider the context and the potential benefits of this modernization, such as enhanced national security and the ability to participate in international peacekeeping efforts.
In conclusion:
In terms of Africa being the next target, there is no credible evidence to support this claim. China’s interests in Africa are primarily economic, with a focus on trade, investment, and infrastructure development. So, is the planet safe in the years to come? While there are certainly concerns about global tensions and the potential for conflict, it’s essential to approach this question with nuance. The complexities of global politics and the interconnectedness of the world economy make it unlikely that nations will engage in military war. While there are certainly concerns about global safety, it’s essential to approach this question with fine details and consider the complex factors at play. By doing so, we can work towards promoting global cooperation and stability, ensuring a safer and more peaceful world for all. This planet with about 8.3B population needs peace not military war.
