Subject: Appreciation Recommendations on the Solar Power Project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).
With great respect and humility, I write to sincerely appreciate the Federal Government of Nigeria under your visionary leadership for the recent flag-off of the ₦12 billion solar power project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).
This bold initiative, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, reflects your administration’s strong commitment to sustainable development, renewable energy, and improved healthcare service delivery. By reducing dependence on the national grid and costly diesel generators, the project will ensure uninterrupted electricity for critical medical services, enhance efficiency, and significantly reduce operating costs at AKTH.
In order to guarantee maximum benefits and long-term sustainability, I respectfully offer the following recommendations:
Timely Completion and Quality Assurance: Ensure strict monitoring and supervision so the project is completed within schedule and to world-class standards.
Sustainability and Maintenance: Develop a clear operations and maintenance framework, with training for AKTH staff and adequate provision for future battery replacements.
Replication Across the Nation: Extend this model to other teaching hospitals, universities, and healthcare facilities, prioritizing areas with the greatest need.
Transparency and Monitoring: Establish a real-time monitoring system with independent audits to track performance and cost savings.
Public-Private Partnerships: Encourage private sector participation to expand similar projects nationwide and reduce financial pressure on government.
