Kano ADC Leaders Accuse National Leadership of Fueling Party Crisis Ahead of 2027

Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State have accused the party’s national leadership of fueling internal divisions capable of weakening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. They alleged that the continued recognition of Hajiya Naja’atu Bala Mohammed as the party’s Deputy National Chairman and leader of the ADC in Kano State has deepened the crisis within the party.
The allegation was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum of ADC Local Government Chairmen in Kano State, Muhammad Tukur Warawa, and signed by the Forum’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Nasiru Refawa. According to the statement, Hajiya Naja’atu no longer has the legitimacy to occupy any position within the party, arguing that the ADC leadership in Shahuci Ward, in Kano Municipal Local Government Area, had already announced her expulsion over alleged anti-party activities and other actions said to be contrary to the party’s constitution.
The forum further described it as surprising that the party’s national leadership continues to allow Hajiya Naja’atu to present herself as the ADC’s Deputy National Chairman and the party’s leader in Kano State despite what it described as her expulsion from the party. The leaders maintained that the situation has continued to create disunity and internal conflict among party members in the state.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, one of the party leaders from a Local Government Area in Kano Central said: “Since the national leadership has chosen to impose Hajiya Naja’atu on the party despite the numerous allegations against her, it is clear to us that they are working to weaken the ADC in Kano State. Therefore, they should be prepared for the consequences because, if they continue on this path, they will find us joining them in ensuring the party loses the 2027 elections.”
