OPENING SPEECH FOR THE NPSC 2026 WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE

Good afternoon distinguished members of the media, representatives of government institutions, security stakeholders, members of the diplomatic community, industry leaders, invited guests, ladies and gentlemen.

Thank you for honouring our invitation today.

Nigeria stands at a defining moment in its security journey. Across our nation, government institutions, security agencies, communities, businesses, and ordinary citizens continue to confront increasingly complex security challenges. These challenges demand not only courage and commitment, but also innovation, collaboration, and a willingness to rethink how we collectively safeguard our nation.

It is against this backdrop that we are proud to announce the National Private Security Conference 2026.

The National Private Security Conference is an independent, non partisan platform established to promote dialogue, collaboration, policy engagement, innovation, and stakeholder partnerships within Nigeria’s broader security ecosystem. It is not a political movement. It is not a lobbying platform. It is not an attempt to replace existing security institutions, regulatory authorities, or industry associations. Rather, it is a strategic forum designed to bring together those who share a common objective: a safer, stronger, and more secure Nigeria.

The theme of this year’s conference is:

“Building a Modern Security Ecosystem: Integrating Private Sector Capacity into Nigeria’s National Security Architecture.”

This theme reflects an important reality. Security can no longer be viewed as the responsibility of government alone. Around the world, successful security frameworks increasingly rely on partnerships between government institutions, security agencies, private sector operators, technology innovators, researchers, investors, and local communities.

The question before us is not whether collaboration is necessary. The question is how we can collaborate more effectively, more responsibly, and more strategically in ways that strengthen national security while preserving the authority and leadership of our state institutions.

That is precisely the conversation we intend to facilitate.

We are deeply honoured by the calibre of leaders who have agreed to participate in this national dialogue. We look forward to welcoming the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa; the Director General of the Department of State Services; distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; senior military officers; police leadership; defence industry executives; international security experts; technology innovators; private security practitioners; investors; researchers; and policymakers.

The conference will focus on practical and actionable discussions around security policy, intelligence integration, public private partnerships, defence manufacturing, emerging technologies, surveillance systems, artificial intelligence, security financing, and the future of Nigeria’s security architecture.

Most importantly, we are determined that this conference should not end as another gathering where important speeches are delivered and forgotten. Our objective is to move from discussion to implementation. Through our panel sessions, stakeholder engagements, and conference communiqué, we aim to generate practical recommendations capable of supporting policy development, industry growth, investment opportunities, and stronger security outcomes for our nation.

Nigeria possesses extraordinary talent, expertise, resources, and institutional capacity. The challenge before us is to create the platforms that allow these capabilities to work together more effectively.

We believe the National Private Security Conference can become one of those platforms.

As we count down to 13 June 2026 at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, we invite government agencies, security institutions, industry leaders, investors, development partners, the media, and all stakeholders to join us in this important national conversation.

Together, we can help build a modern security ecosystem that protects lives, safeguards investments, strengthens national resilience, and contributes meaningfully to Nigeria’s future prosperity.

Thank you for your presence, your partnership, and your commitment to a safer Nigeria.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.
