The Kano State Government has once again reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to giving top priority to the growth and advancement of education across all levels in the state, as part of its long-term vision to uplift the standard of learning and empower the younger generation for a brighter future.
This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Kano State National Proprietors of Private Schools Management Board, Comrade Baba Umar Abubakar, while addressing newsmen during the official opening ceremony of the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Football Competition Cup held between the football teams of the Kano Educational Research and Development and the Private Schools Management Board versus Kano State national properiaters of private schools association at the Yan Dutse Private Senior Secondary School football ground.
Comrade Baba Umar noted that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf places education at the heart of its development agenda, recognizing it as a key driver of social transformation, economic growth, and sustainable peace in society.
He emphasized that the State Government, under the visionary leadership of Governor Yusuf, is making concerted efforts to support both public and private educational institutions through innovative policies, infrastructural upgrades, and youth-centered programs designed to enhance learning outcomes and overall school standards.
Speaking further, Comrade Baba Umar explained that the football competition is part of the state’s broader initiative to blend academic excellence with physical development, thereby creating an avenue for students to express their talents beyond the classroom while fostering team spirit, discipline, and moral values.
According to him, “Education should not only prepare our students for examinations but also for life. Through sports and extracurricular activities like this, we are nurturing leadership, confidence, and unity among our youths who are the future of Kano State.”
He commended the efforts of school proprietors, teachers, and students across the state for their dedication, resilience, and continued partnership with the government in promoting a healthy educational environment.
Comrade Baba Umar also called on all stakeholders—including parents, community leaders, and private investors—to continue supporting the government’s initiatives in the education sector, stressing that the collective participation of all citizens is crucial to achieving lasting progress.
The event attracted educationists, school administrators, and youth leaders from various local governments, who applauded the State Government for its inclusive and participatory approach to education and youth development.
The Executive Secretary further expressed appreciation to the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration for creating opportunities that encourage unity and sportsmanship among students, reiterating that such programs will continue to build the intellectual and physical strength of the younger generation for the greater good of Kano State.
